A quick visit (but not by us)
Another waiting mother, Lynne Brown, traveled to St. Lucy's today. Her son, Chien Lu, has some medical conditions, so she made a visit to consult with doctors there. Her situation is similar to ours, as far as we're both stuck with the same judge, Madame Molasses (as slow as). While we envy the fact that Lynne got to travel and see her son, I can't imagine how difficult it must be for her to pack her bags and head home without him. Not sure I could handle that. I'd probably hire a boat and steal away in the middle of the night.
So, thanks to Lynne for this photo. If you're reading this, please make a visit to the evil judge of ours and sincerely threaten her. It's ridiculous that so many families are getting their first decree in a matter of eight weeks when we're looking at three times that. She is either evil or incompetent, or maybe just plain callous. But there is no excuse.

I am so, so sorry, guys, that Ms Pokeypants is your judge.
Kevin took the call from Heartsent today.. and immediately after he told me I ran for the phone and ask Liza if you were one of the other couples. I'm so disappointed for you, and you will remain in my prayers until louie lou-eye is home.
much love,
val
Sheri, I'd rather wear the hello kitty pants than dress up like a doctor.
Val, big congratulations on your referral. We hope to soon be on your tail...
Hi! Can we write to the judge on your behalf? We've been following your journey way too long :) There should be pictures of all your kids together by now.
Luke and Sheri- I promise you that we WILL see Lu and he will be kissed and held. Plus, I'll bring him goodies, if you want to make up a package. I continue to pray for you guys.. I feel guilty that we are going first, it really SHOULD be you.
I hope they get that fire under control. Too bad we can't get just a bit of the same under Judge Pokey-Pants, eh?
Do y'all have a place to go, if need be?
hugs,
Val
First off didn't notice the hello kitty pants, but it's so cute, just made me laugh.
Is there any explaination why there is such a difference in judges. Why some fly through the process and then this one takes her sweet ole time?
Ann, from what we have heard, Taiwan is trying to reform the legal adoption process. Some judges are hopping on the bandwagon and are able to complete the process in a matter of two months. Other are stuck in the old way of doing things and see no need to speed things up. At one time they were saying that the process took four to seven months; now they are saying that it's four to six months, with a lot coming in much earlier. Us? We'll be lucky to hit seven months.
While I can spit vitriol about our judge, somedays it's important for me to put it into a common cultural context. Imagine if the U.S. started inviting foreigners to come and adopt our orphans. You can imagine how some judges would think this was great -- giving these potential foster children a loving home. But you could see how others wouldn't be so keen -- these kids are American citizens, being sent off to who knows where. And they would do all they could to hold up the process, hoping that a family member would step forward and be willing to take this child. Taiwan has a proud cultural heritage and I do wonder how strongly this plays into this judge's particular speed and need to make sure everything is okay.
Or maybe that's too kind. She's just plain evil.
Kelley -- good idea. Let's start a letter-writing campaign and drop a hundred thousand leaflets on the court house. That's got to work.
And, Val, I'm happy you're able to travel. Yes you're right that we should be going first, but we'll forgive all you lucky ones.
