Half Full/Half Empty

We got what is either good news or really lousy news today. Yesterday the judge asked for the entire Canadian adoption laws to be translated and faxed to him. I guess that he (or it might be she) originally had been sent a portion of the laws, and it sounds like the laws for Ontario, since adoption laws are different in every province. Kerry dug up the laws yesterday and a translator back in Ohio (that's pretty near Canada) stayed up half the night translating it. Damn Canadians make things so complex.

Here's the half full scenario. The final bit of information he needs to pronounce the first decree is that fax. Quick signature, gavel pounds, hear ye hear ye and all that judge-y stuff, and we'll get the call on Monday.

Here's the half empty, actually the damn near completely empty scenario. The adoption laws were initially sent in around three months ago. Our dossier went to the bottom of the pile. He looked at it yesterday, put it at the bottom of the pile, and it'll be three months until it reaches the top again. By then Quebec will have seceded and Taiwan will be just another Chinese province.

Thanks for the encouragement, mi esposa. I'm not sure that I like the sounds of an epidural-like cocktail, though. Kind of freaks me out -- though I know you mean it in a nice way.

Yes, you're the veteran of long waits. I've seen you lumber through the neighbourhood on the verge of giving birth to Olivia, remember your sadness and (at times insanity) as you waited MONTHS for the call for Maya, and, geez, I hardly remember you being pregnant with Frida. Third kid and all. (Kidding.)

The "rest of our lives" is a very good thing. Proud to have you holding my hand.

Oh my gosh, I just love you guys.

At my house, hubby and I play the opposite roles of you two. This is amusing.

Look, MIGHT the file go to the bottom of the pile, or DID it? I am going to pray REALLY hard. I need you guys to get there so you can kiss my girls and make them smile. I've never seen a smile or either one. Isn't that sad?

Love,
Val

...On either one OF them. OMG, I can't even write simple sentances anymore. Dangerous, in my line of work. :)

Umm.. y'all might wanna head over to my Blog. I think I have a pick-me-up-present for you two.

hugs-
Val

You two might be the cutest couple ever... I may, in fact, develop diatbetes just from the sweetness of your comments.

Your wife, btw... makes v.v. good points and is someone I am considering calling for all my future problems. Especially because of the epidural strength cocktails.

Happy Father's Day!

Well, diabetes is better than tooth decay, right? Thanks for the father's day well wishes, Kristin. And note that it's not epidural-strength cocktails but epidural-like. It's not about the content but the delivery system itself.

Anyway, it's three minutes past a lovely father's day but equally sad father's day so I'll just post my sad little note here. Next year, next year, next year.

Oh, and I wanted to thank you again, Val, for the kind thoughts and that sure would have been nice if it had been Lu-Yu's photo.

Today Sheri and I were talking and realized that maybe we've come to the point when we're that couple from the yahoo-group that everyone feels sorry for -- long wait and all. But don't be sorry for us. Be sorry for that darn Taiwanese judge when I get a hold of him!

aw. come on, it cna't be that bad- it would take more than 3 months for Quebec to secede and Taiwan to become a Chinese Province, wouldn't it? :) I'm praying for the half-full situation for you guys and a speedy decision.

Actually, June 21st was supposed to be the pick up date. So as long as we get the call today, we can probably still get there by Wednesday. Of course, the flights will cost about $10,000 a piece, but a price I'd be willing to pay at this point.

Well Luke and Sheri,

The day the call comes in you will know it was all worth the wait. Maybe we will all end up in Taiwan and China at the same time. Shall we meet somewhere? Keep up the good faith and God will answer all of your prayers in good time. Here's to a speedy processing of paperwork in Taiwan and peace in your hearts.
